To our guests and valued supporters,
Thanks to the warm generosity of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and the Church on the Rock, SPiN has been serving dinners three days a week, since this past December, at their locations.
Beginning this week, as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, those buildings are unavailable to us. We will make an announcement as soon as the threat of exposure is eliminated and the churches have reopened.
Meanwhile, the good news: sack meals will be available!
We have assembled volunteers from across the community who will make sandwiches for our SPiN guests, the neighbors who are most vulnerable in our community. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, we will distribute these sack meals in front of Flintstone Park at 12:30 pm.
Edit: as of May 1, we are serving Monday through Saturday, starting at 12:15 PM.
Flintstone Park is at the corner of Dock Street and Bayshore Drive, across from the transit center in Oak Harbor. Click here for a map.
We ask all those who use this service to practice social distancing of 6 feet from each other while in line. Those serving will follow enhanced sanitary practices wearing protective clothing as precautionary measures.
We welcome you to stop by and pick up a meal as long as supplies last each day. We will do our best to maintain this service for our community and appreciate your patience and your support as we commence this service.
Buying the items needed by our volunteers to make these sack meals is much more costly than our normal evening meals. We greatly appreciate your support as we strive to feed those in need in our Whidbey Island community.
At SPiN Cafe, we continue to be humbled and grateful for the tremendous level of ongoing support from our neighbors who have been able to help us. With your continued assistance we will get through these difficult times. Thank you and please stay healthy and safe.
