The people we serve are as much a blessing to us as we are to them, our ability as human beings to love one another in all circumstances is paramount to our civilization. Penny Fowkes
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Penny Fowkes, Volunteer Coordinator for SPIN Cafe. I am very excited to be here at SPIN, and working with some awesome volunteers! I started on Feb 22, 2018 and am doing my best to meet each of our volunteers personally, putting names and faces together and enjoying the enthusiasm everyone has shown me.
I have been a volunteer at SPIN with the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church group for the past few years and I know how awesome it is to serve this great organization. The people we serve are as much a blessing to us as we are to them, our ability as human beings to love one another in all circumstances is paramount to our civilization.
It is my hope that we will make the difference which our founder Vivian Decker has seen and that each of us will feel the joy that comes from a job well done.
We are ready for kitchen volunteers to work with our awesome Chef Tangiler in the kitchens at Oak Harbor Methodist Church and Oak Harbor Presbyterian. She is a joy to be around and cooking these meals is a great experience. It reminds me of growing up, big family dinners at my Aunt Lois’s house, everyone pitching in, playful conversations, a really great time! These opportunities are on Tues and Thursdays from 12:30 - 4:30 and as usual the more the merrier!
We are looking for 2-3 regular helpers, 1 day a month or more so we can fill up our schedule.
Our dinner service is on Tue, Weds, & Thurs from 3:30 - 6:30 and we can always use an extra hand or two. We are so happy that we have regulars from different organizations who show up with a team of helpers, church teams, club teams etc. These teams take one or two days a month as a regular outreach to the community, I would love to have a few more of these so if you have a group that is interested please contact me!
Thank you all for your interest in SPIN Cafe, Serving People In Need is such a great way to show our love for our world, our country and our fellow man.
We're letting the community know how SPIN makes us all stronger. And we welcome guest posts! Please contact blogger Bill Walker if you'd like to post an article.
