It’s a time to give thanks. We may give thanks for an abundant harvest, thanks for our health, thanks for strong, vibrant relationships that give our lives meaning.
We pause at Thanksgiving to reflect on these things. Then many of us reach in our wallets and spend like crazy from Black Friday through Cyber Monday.
But some don’t have as much to be thankful for. Hundreds of our neighbors right here on Whidbey live without such abundance; they suffer poor health; their lives are devoid of family and relationships and meaning.
Here at Spin Café, we ask that you think of our neighbors – your neighbors – when you pause to give thanks this holiday season, and show your gratitude for your own abundance by thinking of SPiN on Giving Tuesday, December 3.
For those who spend their days and nights without shelter, food, or a kind face in their lives, SpiN is a vital place to find warmth, a bite to eat, and a bit of dignity. We’ve seen it time and again as our guests come and go at the Café: Sometimes that’s all it takes to turn a life around.
Warmth. Nourishment. Dignity. Many of us take these for granted. For those without, please consider showing your thanks with a donation to SPiN Café. This year in particular, as we search for a new home, please help to Keep Us Spinning on Giving Tuesday.
